Hi everyone, just thought I'd share and ask for some advice. I have been taking care of my grandmother for the last few months - she had memory problems, and it all somehow changed my attitude to the elderly. I realized that it is not a burden for me, but on the contrary - interesting. I started to think, maybe this is something I should do seriously. I read about CNA, and it doesn't seem that hard to learn. But where do I really start? Where do I go to school? And then where to look for a normal job, so as not to run into nonsense?

To become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and start a career in nursing, follow these steps:
- Meet Basic Requirements – Be at least 18 years old (in most states) and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Complete a State-Approved CNA Training Program – Enroll in a certified program that includes classroom instruction and clinical practice.
- Pass the CNA Certification Exam – Take and pass your state’s CNA exam, which includes both written and practical (skills) sections.
- Get Listed on the State Nurse Aide Registry – Once certified, your name is added to the official registry, allowing you to work legally as a CNA.
- Start Applying for CNA Jobs – Work in hospitals, nursing homes, or home health settings to gain experience and begin your nursing career.

started spontaneously for me, too. I'm from Brazil, I came to Pennsylvania three years ago. I was helping an elderly neighbor, and I enjoyed it. Then I took a CNA course - the training took a couple of weeks, nothing too complicated, the main thing is practice. And I found a job pretty quickly. If you're interested, check out the vacancies on https://carepointpa.com/jobs/caregiver/. They just post current caregiver jobs in philadelphia pa - you can choose by schedule, neighborhood. I started with part-time work, now I work full-time. There is enough work, and it really makes you feel like you are doing something important.

Just happened to see this discussion. Interesting topic, especially now that more and more people are thinking about the meaning of work. I don't have a medical professional in my family, but I have always respected those who choose to care for people - not everyone can do that. I think it's important that now there is access to information and you can find out everything in advance, not go blindly.
