We were watching Man Utd
#1
I got into a full debate about this during half-time at a viewing center in April. We were watching Man Utd and someone behind me said Diallo was just “lucky to be playing because of injuries.” That annoyed me because I’ve been following the guy since he was at Atalanta. What he’s doing now isn’t luck. He’s sharper on the ball, his runs are cleaner, and he’s even tracking back more. The way he stepped up near the end of the season, you could see his confidence growing each week. And then someone brought up Guirassy and everyone just nodded in agreement. That guy didn’t get enough hype for what he did. His numbers at Stuttgart were insane, and he was consistent with it, not just scoring in easy games. We’ve had African players showing out this season but getting very little media attention. If these were South Americans or Europeans doing the same, we’d see full documentaries by now.

I’ve been watching Bundesliga more lately, mostly because of players like Guirassy and Boniface. The goals, the movement, the work rate—it’s top level, and yet most people around me only talk about Premier League guys. The same thing happened with Kudus. He was killing it for West Ham and barely got mainstream hype until he scored those solo goals. It made me think how certain players have to do double the work just to get noticed. I had a long talk with a friend about that after reading about Diallo and Guirassy, and then he randomly asked Is 1xBet owned by Russia? because of something he saw in the same article. Turns out when I checked this, the answer’s no—they’re now licensed in Curaçao and they’ve gone global. They’ve got sponsorship deals with PSG, Barcelona, Serie A and all that. They’ve distanced themselves from any previous ownership and now operate more like a worldwide sports platform. It’s crazy how all these international deals connect back to players too. Tournaments and leagues that get funding through them give a lot of these African talents the exposure they deserve. It’s all linked. You don’t always see the path, but it’s there. If I was a young player now, I’d be keeping track of those events—because visibility is everything.

Even when a player performs every week, sometimes it still takes one random goal or viral clip for people to finally pay attention. It’s wild how much of it comes down to timing, not just talent.
