Hello, forum members! Has anyone bought men's pirate pants from the SteamPunk brand? I found some gorgeous 17th century-style pants on their website - wide-legged, high-waisted, and rivets on the sides. The description says they're a replica of "medieval pirate pants" adapted for steampunk clothing, and they look really cool. The only problem is that the size chart seems to be pulled out of thin air: only the waist is listed, and even then, without any explanation, is that the volume around the body or around the pants when buttoned? I've gotten the wrong size a couple of times already, especially with non-standard brands. The pants seem loose, but I have wide hips, and I'm afraid that either I won't fit, or they'll end up like knee-length harem pants. Has anyone already bought them and can tell me whether I should go a size larger or if they really fit true to size?

Hi, yes, I bought these same pants from them — the ones with the high waist and brass buttons on the sides, plus small faux leather inserts at the knees, if I understood correctly what you're talking about. At first, I also spent a long time looking at their size chart, because it's not at all detailed. Honestly, it seems like they just measured one size and distributed it according to a standard grid. I wear a European size 50 (height 183 cm, waist 92, hips 105), and just in case, I took the XL. In the end, they fit perfectly, but I wouldn't say that they had room. They are indeed loose in cut, but they fit almost tightly in the hips, especially if you wear thermal underwear underneath — this is important at festivals in the fall. By the way, their material is strange — it visually resembles thick canvas, but it stretches a little, due to the polyester. So, they don’t restrict movement, but if you plan to dance, climb stairs or just move actively, keep in mind that squatting tightly in them isn’t very comfortable. I was performing in them just before a festival in the Czech Republic (we had a steampunk quest with reconstruction elements), and after about an hour I realized that the belt needed to be loosened, otherwise you start to feel discomfort in the waist. And another piece of advice: pay attention to the length of the legs. They are slightly shortened, in the style of old pirate or cavalry pants — somewhere to the ankle, and at the same time there is a drawstring along the ankle. If you are taller than 185, they may be a bit short. I specifically wore them with high boots — it looked cool and hid everything. Overall, the pants are great in style, especially if you are putting together a look with steampunk clothing: a vest, a shirt, some accessories like a pocket watch or brutal bracelets.

I can confirm about the length of the pants - I have the same ones, and my height is 187. I had to wear them with leggings so that it wouldn't look like "I grew up and didn't change my wardrobe." But otherwise, the style is very authentic, in keeping with the steampunk theme.
